Kingston’s Green Party will be selecting its federal election candidate this Monday, August 16th. The virtual nomination will come as the Federal Government plans to kick off the federal election campaign as early as this Sunday.
The vote will come after a virtual debate is held on Sunday, August 15th. There are currently two community members seeking nomination as the Green Party’s candidate for Kingston and the Islands.
“We have two excellent nomination contestants in Kingston and the Islands; Michael Hartnett and Waji Khan. This meeting is a chance to meet the two contestants, hear some of their ideas, and ask questions,” wrote Zach Typhair in an email to members this week.
In the email to members, Typhair reiterated that a “contested nomination is an exciting opportunity for any riding to share ideas, generate enthusiasm among our members and others, and prepare for a strong Green campaign in the federal election.”
Currently, the Liberal Party and the NDP are the only federal party’s in the district to have already selected their candidates ahead of the upcoming election.
