For the first time ever, the Creepy Doll Museum is making a stop in Kingston, bringing its haunting collection of nearly 200 dolls from across Canada.
What began as a running joke between friends Kathryn Bahun and Ben Hatcher in Peterborough has grown into a sold-out touring museum, with six years of packed shows across Ontario under their belt.
“Since the very first year we did it, we got an incredible amount of media attention. And since then, people have reached out to us from all over Canada,” said Hatcher in an interview with CFRC. “I think we’ve received dolls from every province in Canada.”
Each doll in the collection comes with its own backstory, written by Ontario authors. From an elegant doll discovered abandoned in a deep freezer to a ventriloquist dummy said to be the lone survivor of a circus fire, every doll has a tale to tell.
Now, Kingston’s Broom Factory joins the list of stops. The museum will open its creaky doors to brave Kingstonians on Friday, Oct. 24, and Saturday, Oct. 25.
