Kingston Police identify missing man as deceased male who was recovered from Lake Ontario

The Kingston Police has identified the body of a man who was found near Battery Park on Monday. The man was identified as 20 year old Jaykumar Patel. Kingston Police and the Coroner’s Office have confirmed that the identity of a deceased individual is that of Patel.

Patel was reported as missing to Kingston Police on June 26, 2020 by family members who were concerned. Patel’s last known whereabouts were on June 26th, 2020 at 6:30pm on Daly street. He was also last recorded on security video at 7:10pm as he was walking from the Wolf Island Dock to Ontario Street.

On July 1st, the Kingston Police had been dispatched to the Breakwater park area at the bottom of Gore Street in relation to what appeared to be a body floating in the water.

“Kingston Police, Frontenac Paramedics, Kingston Fire and Rescue, and the Coroner’s Office all attended the scene. The body of a young adult male was retrieved from the water and Kingston Police assisted the Coroner’s Office with their investigation.” Stated by the Kingston Police in a public memo. Foul play is not thought to be involved, but investigation is ongoing.
