Queen’s University to maintain masking mandates until end of current term

Queen’s University has announced that they will maintain masking mandates until the end of the winter academic term (April 30th). The decision was made jointly with the Council of Ontario Universities, which represents all universities in Ontario.

“In order to minimize uncertainty and disruption and to continue to support students, staff, faculty, and university communities, the Council of Ontario Universities (COU) announced today that institutions across the province will maintain their COVID-19 masking and vaccination policies until at least the end of the current term” wrote Queen’s University on Friday.

This will mean that all Queen’s students, staff and faculty will be required to wear ASTM F2100 Level 2 medical-grade masks while indoors on campus until at least the end of the academic term. The mandatory vaccination policy will also continue to be in effect. The winter academic term at Queen’s is set to end on April 30th, 2022, at which point mandates will be removed.

Queen’s is asking students, staff and faculty members to view the Safe Return to Campus website for current protocols for in-person classes that apply to all students, faculty, and staff.

The decision marks a departure for the Ontario Government’s decision to reverse masking mandates beginning on March 21st, 2022.
