(Kingston, ON) – The annual Empire Life United Way campaign exceeded its goal for the sixth consecutive year, raising $276,861 from employee and retiree donations and events to benefit United Way programs and agencies across Canada.
Once again, the company matched pledges dollar for dollar up to $125,000. The campaign featured team huddles with United Way agency speakers, a bake sale, virtual cooking class, Halloween costume contest and an online silent auction featuring items donated by employees, local companies and business partners.
The 2022 campaign committee chose the theme Stronger Together for this year’s national campaign to reflect teamwork, unity and positive change their colleagues are known for.
“Our Stronger Together campaign connected the Empire team through a shared sense of responsibility to give back, to help and to care,” said Rupa Naran, Campaign Co-Chair (Kingston office). “Thanks to the kindness and generosity of our employees and retirees, we’re helping to make a positive impact in the lives of many people coast to coast to coast.”
“Our annual United Way campaign is an important part of our culture of caring and giving back to the community,” said Zartashia Hashmi, Campaign Co-Chair (Greater Toronto area). “Our modest efforts will positively impact many people in our communities and that light of hope we’ve given to someone else will also brighten our lives.”
