Rotary Club of Kingston announces launch of 2023 Community Outreach Grants

The Rotary Club of Kingston has announced that applications are now being accepted for the Rotary Club of Kingston’s Community Outreach Grants (COG).

Among those encouraged to apply are Not-for-profit community organizations, schools, and social service agencies in the KFL&A area. The grants help fund innovative projects that address the needs of children & youth, children and adults living with disabilities, seniors, and the environment.

Since 2015, Community Outreach Grants have allowed our club to meet and support organizations by providing a hand-up – a bit of funding that can go a long way – to help strengthen our community. Since that time, over 80 projects have been supported with nearly $130,000 in grants. The Rotary Club of Kingston is proud to partner with such incredible organizations to support such diverse and sustainable projects that have made a difference to thousands of people.

“Most years, we receive at least one application from a group that we didn’t know existed beforehand,” said Paul Elsley, COG Co-Chair. “There are so many volunteer-driven initiatives that work incredibly hard and under the radar to provide basic needs for some of our most vulnerable citizens. These grants allow our club to reach even further into our community to help groups that have incredible ideas but may not have access otherwise to sufficient funds.”

The Community Outreach Grants have funded everything from meal programs and literacy tools to feminine hygiene supply kits, ID clinics, community gardens, and seniors’ support projects.

“These grants would not be possible without the support from Friends of Rotary and the community at large for our club’s various fundraisers. The public responds so favourably to such fundraisers as the Rotary Cash Calendar, the Rotary Nut Drive, the Rotary Gala, Rotary Oktoberfest, and online auctions.”

The downloadable application and more information about COG can be found on the club’s website at kingstonrotary.ca/page/community-outreach-grants. The deadline to apply is Friday, February 3, 2023.
