After being approved by council at their meeting on Tuesday night, parking fine increases will be coming into effect on April 1, 2025.
The lengthy list of increases ranges from 25 cents to $4.50, with the largest jump being the fine for losing a parking ticket.
Councillor Gary Oosterhof raised concerns about the increases, stating, “That doesn’t feel fair to me… You know, I’m just wondering about the impact of frustrating Kingston’s driving community.”
The last time Kingston increased fines was in 2019. According to the report given to council, Kingston’s fines are still lower on average compared to other municipalities.
