Over 2,000 graduate students at Queen’s University are now on strike following unsuccessful negotiations for a new collective agreement.
“It’s a tough thing to go on strike, but our membership has shown up in huge numbers,” stated PSAC 901 President, Jake Morrow, at the main picket line in front of Stauffer Library earlier this week.
In their latest statement, the university indicated its commitment to work towards a resolution.
Despite the strike’s impact, the university also stated classes and academic activities will continue as scheduled. However, with some professors refusing to cross the picket line and other classes relying on graduate student workers for marking, tutorials, and labs, some undergraduate students have seen classes cancelled in the last week.
