Kingston General Hospital Auxiliary donation marks return to pre-Covid numbers

At their 120th Annual General Meeting last week, the Kingston General Hospital Auxiliary donated $314,650 to Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC), marking a major investment in local healthcare. 

After challenging years throughout and after the pandemic, this year marks a return to pre-Covid numbers, with momentum being regained through consistent efforts and reopened operations like their lottery booth. 

This year’s funds will go toward purchasing essential equipment, including a Point-of-Care ultrasound machine for the pediatric program, 4 ventilators for the neo-natal intensive care unit, and 15 oncology treatment chairs. The Auxiliary is also continuing to support educational bursaries and care programs. 

“I think everybody was excited to see that amount … you do feel like you’re part of the group that’s working towards something together,” said Chelsea Reynolds, President of the Auxiliary. “And, you know, like I do with the lottery booth and you think, oh, well, you know, it’s just a couple hours, a couple of times a week, but like every little bit counts …”
