Positive COVID-19 case identified at Sir John A. Macdonald Public School

The Limestone District School Board has identified a positive case of COVID-19 at Ecole Sir John A, Macdonald Public School. The student tested positive on Thursday, February 4th, 2021.

Upon identifying the new case, the LDSB notified parents via email and state that “these cases pose no risk to students or staff. As such, no cohorts will be required to isolate at this time. The school will remain open.”

While there were no positive cases identified in Kingston today, the case was included in the  Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit region as the student resides in that area.

With students returning to in-person learning last week, the province and board have increased COVID-19 safety protocols.

This is the first positive case at a Kingston elementary school since schools were given permission to re-open on January 26th. Since reopening, safety precautions have increased.
