Kingston Fall Fair aims to boost youth participation with revival of Ambassador competition

The Kingston Fall Fair is reviving its Ambassador competition in an effort to call in young Kingstonians, inviting youth aged 17-24 to represent the event.

Organized by the Kingston and District Agricultural Society, the annual event celebrates the city’s agricultural sector, showcasing the industry in the heart of the city. This year’s fall fair will take place at the Memorial Centre from September 11-14.

The young adult cohort has been especially difficult to reach, according to organizers.

“Other than needing high school volunteer hours, it is hard to get youth involved,” said Heather Ambrose, Vice President of the Agricultural Society. “…We’re hoping that by doing the Ambassador program, that’ll help us bridge that gap.”

The chosen Ambassador will act as “the face of the fair”, presenting awards at the event, engaging with the community, participating in fair planning, and representing the fair at various other events throughout the year.

Application details are available at Kingston Fall Fair website, and submissions will be accepted until July 31, 2025.
