City launches review of property standards bylaws to address neighbour disputes

Last Updated on December 6, 2025 by YGK News Staff

Council unanimously endorsed a motion at their last meeting aimed at addressing disputes between neighbours.

Moved by Councillor Jimmy Hassan and seconded by Councillor Brandon Tozzo, the motion responds to persistent complaints councillors receive about conflicts related to issues like yard maintenance, waste storage, and other property conditions.

The motion directs staff to review the City’s property standards bylaws and report back in mid-2026 on potential improvements. The review will explore public awareness measures, potential refinements to existing regulations, and what tools bylaw officers require to address these issues.
