Uber rates Kingston as one of the top party cities in Canada

Uber has revealed its first ever Nightlife Index and it has rated Kingston as one of the top “Party Cities” in Canada.

Uber says they’re releasing the index as “nighttime escapades” make a return and the COVID-19 pandemic eases.

The data is drawn from its Uber Rides and Uber Eats apps and is based on the volume of rides between 10 PM and 2 AM. The data is then weighted for the number of riders in each city.

According to the data, Kingston is ranked fourth in Canada with Kitchener-Waterloo coming in third, Toronto coming in second and London, Ontario taking the top spot.

London, Ontario took the top spot despite not having the most uber accounts. “Wild London may not have the most Uber accounts than any other city, the number of people using Uber during these late hours is the highest when you compare it to other cities across the country,” said Keerthana Rang, corporate communications lead for Uber in Canada.

An Uber representative said that it’s no coincidence that the top cities also happen to be college and university towns.

“We’re seeing smaller cities up at the top because those cities do have colleges and universities and I think they’re really helping boost the rankings,” she said.

In addition to the rating the top party cities, Uber provided insights for anything that one might need to know on a night out. They list Saturday, October 30, 2021 Saturday, December 11, 2021 and Sunday, October 31, 2021 as the biggest partying nights in Canada last year.

The top hangover foods include the Burger, Breakfast wrap and Nuggets the Chicken sandwich and hashbrowns.

Uber says they’ve collaborated with MADD Canada on this initiative to encourage partyiers to find a safe ride home if they are impaired.

“Uber Canada supports MADD Canada’s work to prevent impaired driving and encourage Canadians to choose sober ride options if you have been consuming alcohol, cannabis, or other drugs.”
