Council votes to sell land for multi-sport complex at St. Lawrence Business Park

At their last council meeting, councillors unanimously voted to sell 4.4 acres of land at St. Lawrence Business Park to Kingston Multi-Sport Investment Group Ltd. to build a multi-sport complex.

The planned 65,000 square foot facility will feature a full-size soccer field, sports clinic, physiotherapy offices, changing rooms, a multi-purpose room, and a snack bar.

Local soccer coach and a key investor in the project, Victor Mendes, stated before council, “our vision is to create a hub to bring our community together, unite our athletes by giving them a place to gather to help them achieve their full potential.”

While the proposal received strong community support, concerns raised in public engagement included loss of green space, the selling of public land to private investors, and other potential impacts on the surrounding neighbourhood.

If all goes according to plan, the facility is expected to open in late 2026.
