Following a video conference on Tuesday involving representatives of the Estate of Mary Fraser and the City of Kingston, a full-day hearing has been scheduled for February 17, 2026, to discuss the future of the Lemoine Point Farm.
The waterfront property at 2000 Front Road has been in limbo since the death of owner Mary Fraser in 2022, whose will offers the City the option to purchase the property under several conditions, including keeping the property zoned for rural use.
In August 2024, the City announced it was negotiating with Fraser’s estate trustees. With disagreements over the interpretation of the will, the trustees sought guidance from the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.
The Save Lemoine Point Farm group, advocates for preserving the land for community use, observed the hearing on Tuesday and hope to remain involved in the discussion.
“Although it’s still another nine months away, we’re very happy to see that there is movement,” Jim Biagi with Save Lemoine Point Farm stated in an interview with CFRC.
